Maybe she made a couple of generalizations, but as for this case, I think she hit the nail right on the head. It was her OPINION...not fact, or law. Everyone has a right to their own oppinion, and I think that the tribe doesn't think they should. I understand your comment, but wanted to clarify. It was really nice to hear someone support the "little guy" and not be afraid of the reprecussions.Heatherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08427045842096800779noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1393682956136807861.post-25498787242113077692009-01-17T12:01:00.000-08:002009-01-17T12:01:00.000-08:00I don't think the people who wrote the Indian Coun...I don't think the people who wrote the Indian Country Today article were on a "kick" at all. I felt that Campbell Brown's emotional commentary on the case was appropriate to the specific case, but when she started to comment on a wider scale citing this case as evidence she went too far. Generalizing all Native American communities and the ICWA in a negative light was a poor choice considering that the Leech Lake Band of Ojibew is just one of over 500 federally-recognized tribes in the United States. I think it is this oversimplification of the facts that it what most people are upset about, and rightly so.Manthonyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00556028067541812466noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1393682956136807861.post-20924246509927616572009-01-17T08:56:00.000-08:002009-01-17T08:56:00.000-08:00Geez!! I have been to many reservations and have witnessed and seen the living conditions, the people, and their way of life. I have native american blood and honestly Im thankful that my ancestors parents left her on white man's doorstep because they couldnt take care of her. Everyone should be strengthening their families (why take offense to that) and people need to realize Natasha chose the adoption, just like she CHOSE her way off life that led to her children being taken. I dont feel sorry for her and I think these commentors on the article really need to stop and think about Talon and the loving situation he was taken from.Jen,Judd, and Brentonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17316640935835170598noreply@blogger.com
